Battery Stacking Technology
Yesterday's hardware shouldn't limit the future of energy storage. That's why Rubix Battery created the vertical battery stacking architecture. Conventional cabinet-based systems force installers to work around oversized frames and rigid spatial constraints.
The Stack Series and Giga Stack Series from Rubix Battery eliminate those limitations. Our proprietary stacking technology replaces racking and cabinets entirely, creating a vertical, self-supported structure that installs quickly and adapts as needs change.
This isn't a small refinement. It's a structural redesign of the entire energy storage architecture.
Stacking Technology Explained
Lithium battery stacking is a modular construction method. At Rubix Battery, the concept is engineered into the core of the product. Each module is built as a self-contained unit with integrated electrical interfaces, structural load paths, internal communication channels, and an enclosed cabling compartment. Instead of placing batteries inside a rack, the modules become the structure itself.
The process is straightforward. You place one module on top of another to form a stable vertical column. Modules connect internally as they stack. Capacity and voltage can be increased through series, parallel, or mixed configurations. No brackets, side rails, support cabinets, or auxiliary mounting kits are needed.
Removing the cabinet frees the system from the footprint that usually dictates where a battery can go. The Stack and Giga Stack Series grow upward while maintaining the same floor dimension from the first module to the last.
Key Advantages of Battery Stacking
- Smaller footprint through vertical growth. Six high-density modules can be stacked in a single column. This concentrates substantial storage capacity into a narrow space, a benefit for mechanical rooms, residential garages, utility closets, and commercial installations with tight layout constraints.
- Cleaner, organized installations. External wiring harnesses aren't necessary because cabling is routed inside the modules. The finished stack reads as a single integrated system rather than a cabinet full of exposed components.
- Faster installation with fewer parts. Racks require assembly, anchoring, ventilation clearances, and cable dressing. With the Stack Series, installers focus on the modules themselves. The system goes up quickly and with less labor, reducing project time and minimizing hardware complexity.
- Expansion without reconstruction. Cabinet systems lock the installer into a fixed volume on day one. Expanding often requires replacing the entire enclosure. Our stacking technology avoids that. When additional capacity is needed, a new module is added to the top of the existing column. The structure stays intact, the footprint remains the same, and the system grows without waste.
How This Supports Our Broader Mission
